    Remington failures

I know the 6mm is a great round. I own a Model 600 in it and I love the rifle and it's ability to put down game. However for known reasons Remington screwed up it's ability to become a serious contender in the industry and honestly only certain rounds shoot well in my rifle due to total cartridge length considerations. It was a beloved uncle's so it will always be mine. But it's not a cartridge today I'd buy a rifle in for the obvious reasons.
Several years ago I picked up a fairly new Remington R15 in what turned out to be a cool cartridge. 30 remington AR. 30RAR is a very accurate, manageable recoil round that's kicking out over 2700fps in my rifle. Speed is better in bolt rifles built for it but this rifle will shoot well under 1" groups all day even with it's not so great trigger.
The 6mm at least is still out there and still viable. The 30RAR is like that your 30 year old son still living in the back bedroom. Failure to launch.
Like both rifles, love both rounds. But at least I can get 6mm components and ammo. The 30RAR is not available. I'm glad I have some rounds and brass saved, a set of die and the ability to reload but I still seldom shoot it.
Alas, Remington has had some great guns and has earned it's place in history. However I have found two of it's more forgettable rounds in my arsenal but still know why I like them so well.
    Guess that's why it stings.

Remington ain’t the only company that has some bastage children. Think the Super Short Winchester rounds. Highly touted, then Winchester totally abandons the owners of these not-so-wonderful rounds.

Think Charles Whitman had anything to do with the unpopular 6mm? I owned a 700ADL and wished I still had it.

The .260 Remington is a great round (basically a 6.5 Creedmoor, but arguably better when reloading). Remington didn't market it well, and it didn't catch on like other rounds.

several more mistakes from Big Green

their BR line of cartridges: 22, 6, 7 .... so much potential that Rem abandoned
5mm Remington - such a fun & accurate varmint round... devastating round on turkey
.244 (6mm Rem.) failed from the beginning with a wrong barrel twist
              6.5 Remington Magnum
              7mm Express (280 Rem.) - stupid name
35 Remington - barely hanging on by it's dedicated big game hunting followers
8mm Remington Magnum - haven't seen one in years

                Exactly. I have a 325 Mag.

It was Remington's caliber first, but they didn't make any marketing effort.

My input and experience on your 6mm Rem. I've loaded hundreds of rounds and experiments that weren't acceptable in 6mm.

Being honest, I stopped reloading it and stuck with factory 100gr Hornady BTSP.

With only 18 1/2" barrel, it shoots better than nice out to 300yds.

Rate of twist was the only thing holding the 6mm back.. I own 3 and love them all.. One in a M700 varmint, one in a 742 Woodmaster and one in a Ruger #1B.. 80 grain Hollow point handloads are instant death on deer, pigs and anything smaller..

The Ultramags have a cult following with the LR guys.

The 6.5 and 7 SAUM are both still
                              Contenders as well.
