    Muzzle Brake for PRS Rifle

I just got finished putting together a rifle to mess around in a few PRS matches. As much as I hate shooting without a suppressor, I’m going to run a brake on this setup. It seems like most people run either APA, Area 419, or PVA brakes. I’ve also considered a EC Tuner Brake.

I’m sure most of those will work plenty well, but want a little input on what’s the best from somebody that’s tried a few different ones.

Ive tried every brake that I have been able to get my hands on. What cartridge are you running?

Was hoping you’d chime in. Running a 6 creed.

Most recoil reduction is going to be the APA Fat B Gen 3
Only drawback with this brake is it generates more concussion rearward. I run this brake currently and generally run ear plugs as well as over ear muffs.

Second option would be the ACE brake from Austin Orgain. You can order it from impact's website. It will not provide as much recoil reduction but still has top ports to make recoil straight back where you can spot shots still. Rearward concussion is minimal.

I am not a fan of the 419 brake but admittedly have not shot their new hellfire match brake.

Appreciate your input. I'm definitely leaning towards the Fat *******. That's probably what I'll end up with. I've seen that ACE brake mentioned a few times also. I like the idea of a little less concussion for the shooter.

Have shot both the APA lil bast, and the area 419 hell fire. APA is louder for sure. I like the look of 419 better and what I currently run

I just received an email from APA with 15% off if you use code: MATCH

For PRS, I'd go with APA Gen2. Maybe a bit less recoil reduction, but noticeable difference in back blast. I run this on a 6GT, and most of my hunting rigs. I originally bought the Gen3 for the 6GT for match use, but prefer the Gen2 for the reasons above.

I've shot or used the others, realistically not much of difference among them.

I'm not a big fan of constantly tweaking a brake for use, been there and done that on adjustable gas blocks for AR's. I'd rather get used to what I have and run it, I've never made a noticeable difference on a brake to impact match placement. Other than giving me an excuse to rationalize my performance or lack thereof.
