I’ve owned most everything mentioned in here so far besides the March. I agree with Duck and Trophy8 about the NX8. I really wanted to like it. On paper it’s a fantastic scope. The execution was lacking though. Trying to stuff an 8X erector into such a short 30mm tube is all about compromise. Not a bad optic, but not a great optic either. Leupold wins this one with the MK5. I’m actually buying Trophy8s MK5 3.6-18 for my new rimfire build right now. The only two optics I was considering for it was the MK5 and ATACR 4-16. He made me a good deal so the MK5 won out.
There are alot of better scopes out there for sure. But of the 2 that were asked about by the OP, can't go wrong with either.
The good eye, is that that glass eye.
Care to share some other options on similar specs as the mark 5 and nx8? It’s going on a 9.5 hunting rig that I may shoot out past 1200 on steel on the rare occasion.
I don’t have much experience with an NX8 other than looking through a few in stores but I can sure see where what is said about the eye box is right and I had one that I couldn’t get clear no matter how much I played with the diopter or parallax adjustment.

Khales, swarovski are a couple. I know a few guys that have Leica glass as well.

The Mark 5 I have is fantastic.
I have a Mark 5 as well. It's a great scope, no complaints yet.
MOA/MIL same thing (an angular measurement) just pick one. If you are shooting competition go MIL because your spotter will probably be sending MIL. I am a Nightforce fan but I agree with the others on disliking the NX8. I like ffp for target or hunting. I am usually using a lower magnification because I like the ease of finding my target at lower magnification plus I like to see what happens to the target after the shot is fired. If you are stepping up to a 300 PRC then the seeing what happens to the target after the shot is not probable anyway.
