I've got to say they're a match made in heaven and am really glad I went that direction. For optics, I went with a Mark5 HD 5-25x56mm with the PR2 MIL reticle. It was lighter than most of the other scopes in the price range and is made in America. Altus was the builder and it turned out really great. Good luck!
What kind of groupings you getting with factory and hand loads? Is that a titanium action? Wasn’t planning on going titanium.

Tons of great options given.
With that being said you can get great accuracy from a trued Remington 700 or savage action. Don’t get hung up on that part too much. Defiance or Kelbley are good options if you want custom. Like mentioned impact is nice, but I wouldn’t go for it on a primary hunting rig.
If you’re concerned with weight look at one of the carbon fiber stocks, AG composites makes the Alpine hunter for example.
If I were to build a factory option in a .308 caliber rifle it would be the 300 PRC as well. 1:9 twist, 24-26”, carbon fiber (carbonsix or proof) and run the heavies. The price of ammo pails in comparison to what we spend on everything else. Just as an FYI lapua 300 PRC brass is in stock at mile high shooting right now.
Trigger tech special or diamond would be my choice after having felt the break of the diamond on my recent build.
Your biggest fight is going to be components right now. If you’re having to order something that a smith doesn’t have in stock you may be waiting for a while, September will be here before you know it!

After talking to a smith, it seems like the action is probably going to be the hold up. I’m leaning hard on a defiant. Have one on the 7WSM paired with a Bartlein barrel and it’s a flat out shooter. .09” at 100 with 168 Berger’s. And that’s shooting off a sand bag. Just trying to decide which one. Was looking at the anti x but also looking at the ruckus hunter and deviant hunter. Prefer nitride if I go with defiant. Just not real crazy on the deep milling of the bolt on the anti x. I’m trying to find somewhere around houston that has some I can check out and see how they feel. Anti x is much lighter than the others but o don’t have to have a super lite rifle either. Around 8 pounds is sufficient. Even 9. Gotta have something besides my shoulder to absorb recoil. Lol

Help me build a 300 prc.
Matt has given some good advice.
I recently built a 264 WM improved and used a Kelbly’s Atlas Tactical and it is very nice and I really like the mechanical ejector vs the typical spring ejector. I also went with a Proof barrel and it’s a shooter. Johnny did all the machine work and it’s shoot .099” groups with mild loads and fire forming with 156 Berger EOLs. I’m also running an AG Composites stock and Trigger Tech Diamond trigger, it’s my first deviation from Jewell and I’m pretty impressed with it.
I also agree on Win Mag over PRC. There ain’t a thing wrong with a belted magnum. They’ve been killing stuff and shooting long range for a looong time. I would have your reamer custom made to seat the bullets out long, somewhere around 3.650” and throated for the bullet you want to shoot. You’ll need to run a CIP length M5 DBM if you do that but it will solve the head height problem that the 300 WM and similar length cartridges have. Have it setup to headspace off the shoulder after the first firing. I’d go 9 twist minimum and wouldn’t be scared of an 8 twist.

This is when fireforming with a reduced load. 28” barrel.
First 6 rounds out of it when sighting in. First round is about 4” low and not visible in the picture.

How much powder is required?
Have 6.5 prc shooting 3060fps with 156s and 3ish SD. That’s over 60 grains.

That was with 74.5 grains of RL33. Some of the energy is used to fireform the brass.
I’m hoping for 3250 and the SD should come down with the fire formed cases and prepped brass. All I did for fireforming was pull new brass out of the package, run a mandrel through to make sure the necks were true charged and seated. No prep whatsoever.

Heck ya man, 257 Roy speeds when a bigger bullet! Mine is over 570, and anything close to that.
