    What height scope base?

I have a Savage Axis .22-.250 that I bought because it was cheap and I needed a rifle to drive around the ranch with on my atv. I put a old school Nikon Monarch on it because quite honestly it was on a cheap rifle so therefore a cheap scope. .Now, 7 years later I have decided that I need to upgrade the scope because this rifle has killed more critters than all my others combined. With that being said, I have a Leupold VX-lll 3x 10x 50 that I’m going to put on it. My question is would a medium height base work for this??
    Thanks

          agree. Med works perfect.

hum if you already have a scope on it .. measure the space between the scope and the barrel and compare that to your new scope and it should tell you pretty quick if the new scope is going to fit or not ..

i like mine as low as possible , so while you can always go taller , why would you want to ..?

Might depend on the size and shape of you face and type of butt stock. Somebody with a horse face jaw line might need extra high rings. Medium works for me 100% of the time since I don't have any guns with a monte carlo stock in which case I might want a high mount.

that's irrelevant .. he has a monarch on it now and he's not complaining about the cheek weld , going to a 50mm objective vx3 , same tube diameter .. so same cheek weld .. only variable is if the objective bell will clear .. and like i said measuring it would tell .. if the monarch has a sizeable space between objective and barrel , going from 40 to 50 may have enough room

                original op .. post a pic !

you obviously killed a bunch of critters at current scope height .. if the 50mm fits the presentation will stay the same , if you go different size , it won't.

i've put many 50mm scopes where i had 40's previously .. measure it instead of making assumptions
