    Ruger Mini 30 reviews.

Anyone got one of these they are running a suppressor on? Thinking about picking one up to use as a suppressor and thermal host for pigs mostly. I like having the ability to run 20 rd mags of 7.62x39 for pigs but also having a low profile 5 rd mag for out of the high seat for calling coyotes.

So questions I really have are
    Reliability?
    Accuracy?
    Run fine with a suppressor?
Any major problems to look out for?

Other options I am looking at are the American ranch in 7.62x39
    Palmetto KS-47
And ruger predator in .308 would use 10-12rd aics mags
Looking for something with more power to it than .223 for pigs abut still cheap to shoot. I can still find .308 cheapish and 7.62x39 is super cheap as well but both would offer more power.

Don’t you just can’t get the accuracy out of them without mods. There are many great ars out there. You can get 5-10 mags. Cmmg best band for the money. Many like the PSA. And much easier to do add ons too.

Never owned a 7.62x39 Ranch Rifle, but did own one in .223 Rem. Tried lots of different ammo brands and best group with a 3x9 scope on it was 3-4 inches at 100 yards, some brands of ammo grouped 8-10 inches. A buddy of mine had similar results with his in .223. We both sold ours years ago and got AR-15s. Accuracy was very much improved with the AR platform. I love the looks and feel of the Ruger, but for accuracy and practical application the AR performed better. I suspect that would be the case with the 7.62x39. I want to say, and I stand to be corrected, that when the Ranch Rifle was introduced in 7.62x39, Ruger made the chamber throat and barrel slightly larger to be able to handle Soviet bloc ammo which is .311 in bullet diameter, which was a little larger than traditional American 7.62 ammo which is .308 inches in bullet diameter. To be able to safely handle the larger .311 Soviet bloc military surplus ammo that was so readily available, Ruger made their barrels large enough to handle the .311 bullet, which also allows for the.308 bullet. I remember the author of an article on the subject speculated that was one of the reasons the rifle shot less than stellar groups, especially if the shooter was using .308 diameter bullets instead of .311 diameter bullets. I suspect that might be part of the issue, but I think there are also other issues that make the Ruger platform, in an un modified state, have less than stellar accuracy. If the OP ‘s shots are going to be 100 yards or less, he might be able to find a round, or handload a round, that provides sufficient accuracy the OP can live with, assuming the OP’s initial shot groupings are not good. Again I stand to be corrected, as my personal experience with Ruger accuracy was based upon the .223 Rem, not the 7.62x39.

If you like bolt actions the ruger uses mini 30 mags which is cool. It’s decent made and accurate. HOWA are very accurate and very well made. Draw back is 5 rounds. The cz 527 are the best made but once again limited on mags. But CZ has a new line about to drop which has a light weight chassis collapsible stock that take Bren mags. As well as a more traditional tactical stock.
