Internal box mags suck. Sorry. However, take some fine grit paper and sand any surfaces that contact any other surface, follower, box, etc. If that doesn’t fix it then throw that stuff in the trash (or sell) and replace your internal mag with a decent DBM that can accept the smaller flush style mags and you won’t wave to worry about your mag sticking out if you don’t like that.

Rifle feeding issues
Let me know what the outcome is as i have same issue and think maybe something with a defiance action (just a guess) as had a few do that. Not sure the solution, but the hassle of fumbling with round to get it to load has cost me a few shots.
