    300BO reliable expansion(sub sonic)

Looking for real world experience in bullet brands that reliably expand at subsonic speed. I have a proven supersonic load I use and am now looking for a bullet brand that will reliably expand at subsonic speed. Looking in the 200 grain weight in Maker and Lehigh Defense. Any other manufacturers I should consider? Please don’t hijack thread with the obvious super vs sub hunting stories. I just want the forums experiences with a brand of bullet that reliably expands at subsonic speeds.

This is a touchy subject. Reliable expansion in a subsonic 300BO. Well, my go to is the Black Butterfly 200gr Buzzsaws. I try to make a "soft tissue" shot with those. Meaning throat shots on hogs, or gut shots. I don't think they'll penetrate the "shield" on a full grown boar. Little ones, let er rip. I load up the buzzsaws in my 300BO pistol PDW/Truck gun. Other than that, I'll run the Underwood 220gr BTHP's for head shots on hogs.

Good experiences with WT using the Maker 200gr SBR load. And good results on small pigs so far with Hornady 190gr Sub-x (Factory TAP ammo)

Have not heard of Black Butterflies or Selous. This kind of reliable expansion bullet brand information is what I am seeking.

I've killed a few 100'ish-150ish pound pigs with the 190 gr Sub-X. I didn't pull the bullet or clean the pigs to check for expansion though. A couple dropped within 15-20 yards, some ran a little further, and the ear holed pigs went down in their tracks.

                Maker's is the ticket.

If the 30 caliber makers expand as well as the .458 diameter ones, they would be the best choice.

This is from my 458 Socom shot into soft dirt at 50 yards. Muzzle velocity was 1046fps.

Discrete ballistics has a great 188gr expanding load for the 300blk.

I would be thinking pure lead, cast hollow points.

Makers are where it's at for sub hunting ammo imo. The 190 sub x are decent but they mushroom more than expand.
