Weatherby Mark V Action in 25-06

It appears this Mark V model is no longer available. Where might I find a value for this rifle in excellent condition? I bought it in 2000. Thanks.

Edit: Is the action actually the Mark V vs. the Vanguard and not the model? If so, I don't see anything but Mark V on the gun.

They still make the Mark V.

I know they do but there are various series of them and there is nothing on the gun to indicate which, if any. It is solid black synthetic stock and action/barrel. I'm not sure they make a 25-06 in the Mark V anymore. All I see in that caliber is the Vanguard.

If it has nine lugs it is a Mark V action. I know they made the 25-06 in the Mark V. Wood stocked would be around $1500.

most non Weatherby calibers are a 6 lug. I think that was fairly recent.

Another way to tell from a distance is if the back of the bolt is curvy and tapered, rather than more blunt, it's a Mark V action. If you're handling it, open the bolt. If the bolt handle travels a full 90 degrees, it's a Vanguard. If it only goes 60 degrees to fully open, it's a Mark V.

If it is stamped Mark V rather than Vanguard, then that's what it is. Unless somebody put a Vanguard barrel on a Mark V action, I guess.

I have learned the last year of manufacture was 2004. It was only made for for 6 years in this model/caliber. Where can I get a value for it?

Shane, it is stamped Mark V. I would not have bought a Vanguard personally. I just don't see the 25-06 Remington in a Mark V model currently.

That's a Mark V. They have and still do make them in various non-Weatherby calibers. That should be a good one. The .25-06 is pretty close to the ballistics of the .240 Weatherby Mag. Cool gun!

Thanks for the info, Shane. I honestly haven't kept up since selling off my reload equipment years ago.

You won't need to reload so much if it's .25-06. Factory ammo will be a lot cheaper than Weatherby calibers.

I have a decent stockpile currently to last me.

Zach has a Vanguard in .25-06 that he bought when he was about 12. He's killed a pile of critters with it.

Shane, I'm sure they are well made guns. I wanted a Mark V or another brand.
