    Remington Model 7

I have a Remington Model 7, 7mm-08 SA, that has been shot maybe a handful of times that I am wanting to do something with. I want to put a new stock, barrel, trigger.

Has anyone changed out barrels on a Model 7? If so, what’s the biggest contour you can put on it? I can’t stand the pencil thin barrel that comes on it.

Basically going to be a truck gun so nothing fancy, but want as close to a sendero contour barrel as I can.

You probably know, but the whole point of the Model 7 is a light, compact rifle. I think a fat barrel would look out of place on it. I’d trade it for something you like better.

You can trade it to me for a heavy barrel 308!

Yep sell it, buy a fluted savage 116 or Remington sendero
M7 is made light and accurate with 1st two shots

I appreciate the advice, I have seen them customized the way I am wanting just wasn’t sure the size contour on the barrel. Figured someone may know.

Not interested in selling it, just want to upgrade it.

Maybe a shorter, carbon fiber barrel?

Possibly, just want a “thicker” barrel.

This is exactly what I am wanting to do. This is a Model 7 with a new stock and barrel. The stock looks like an H-S precision, and I want this size/thickness barrel.

Love my Model 7's but also hate the pencil barrel. I think a medium sporter contour like the old LVSF would be ideal.

Just keep the bbl short regardless of contour & it will be fine for #7...

A buddy of mine used to have one in a .308 Win, came with factory synthetic stock an 18.5 inch barrel. Recoil was pretty stout, but he that rifle would put 3 rounds inside of a nickel at 100 yards with Hornady Custom 165 grain BTSP factory rounds. He fired a bunch of molybdenum coated bullets in it, and fouled up his barrel really bad. Accuracy went to hell, so he sold it. Model 7s are great all around guns.

here are some ballpark prices if you decide to use your M7 as a donor

                          - HS stock $300
                          - custom barrel $350
                          - chamber job $250
                          - blueprint and true action $175 (optional but recommended)
                          - barrel fluting $150 (optional)
                          - bolt fluting and custom knob $200 (optional)
                          - updated bottom metal $150-250 (optional)
                          - add cerakote ..... $100 (optional)

my opinion, keep your factory M7 and find a Rem 700 LTR in either .223 or .308 (your choice). Comes with a 20" fluted barrel. You can find them priced from $750 ~ 900. Rifle weighs 7.5 lbs. and very maneuverable/handy

I appreciate it, not worried about price as I have many custom rifles and know what the prices run. I am in contact with the gentleman who built the rifles in the pictures I attached so I’m good to go now.
