    6.5x55 info

Found a M96 Mauser in 6.5x55. Really pretty wood stock. Comes with Nikon 3-9x40 and box of ammo. They are asking $600. Is it worth it?

Check bore condition. If it's bright and smooth then yes.

Buy it, but with the knowledge that 6.5x55 ammunition is difficult to find right now and is expensive $80-100 per box when you can find it .
6.5x55 is my favorite 6.5 and will serve you well on deer , elk , ect ,
      Buy and start some killing

Depending on exactly what that action is, the action alone can be worth $600. An old G33-40 small ring short action can go for a grand to the right custom gun maker. Due diligence on that action is required.

According to guy who has it, it’s a Model 96 Swedish Mauser. It is a Carl Gustuv(spelling?)

That's gonna be cock on closing. Nothing wrong with that just a little bit harder to close the bolt.

Yes, they were M96's from the Husqvarna factory that I can purchased when I was an FFL. One was a hunting rifle conversion and the other was original wood.

I got one last year in a trade for some Pickle Beer here on TBH. Haven’t got to shoot it yet but plan too. Picked up some ammo from a few TBH guys. Do a classified search for the ammo on here. The guy that I got it from had more I believe.

I would bet that thing was built in the 1950s, or sporterized in the 50s. I would like to know what they used for the diamond inserts, cap on the forearm and pistol grip cap? That barrel looks like the original barrel.

Interesting rifle, the 6.5X55 Swede is a very nice caliber, another of the older calibers I really want to add to my collection at some point.
