Both will deliver a 143 eldx to 500 yards at greater than 2000fps velocity. PRC has 10% or less velocity advantage with a minimum of 20% recoil penalty.
    Do you own either one?

OP it’s like comparing a 30-06 to a 300 win mag. PRC with the magnum case gives you a nice velocity jump. Comes with a recoil jump too but not bad. I’ve had both. My prc is one of my favorites. I know it’s limits but it’s a great rifle to have when I don’t wanna torch of one of the big rifles.

That's a comparison I can relate to, Sounds like I'm gonna be happy with the PRC & the Grands are gonna take over the Creeds

        Video explaining the 6.5’s vs 6.8 /.270

It’s interesting the marketing these companies use to sway the younger folks
Take a 6.8 and put it in a 1:8 twist with 165-170 grain bullet to increase B.C
        6.5 148gr = max B.C
I will not blah blah about it . Just watch the videos if interested

          His comparisons are funny.

That 300 sends a 180 at 3150? With a .45 BC? Lol. Come on. I haven’t looked into the 6.8 western at all. But when long actions start entering the chat then the playing field changes drastically lol

Question. If I have a 6.5 creedmoor in a rem 700 platform will I be able to swap out barrels for a prc or will I need to get another action to handle the pressure or even size?

You’ll need another bolt also. 6.5 PRC uses a magnum bolt face.

The same action will be fine for it. The only necessary item is the bolt. Now a new action can be a benefit if you want to take advantage of longer OALs, but then a whole new rifle is necessary since the stock or bottom metal won’t work either.

Shooting 100-300 yards on game and shot placement will be far more important than the debate between 6.5 Creed and 6.5 PRC. Past that the advantage will be much more noticeable in both energy and trajectory.

Have a 6.5 prc built by WTO, it’s a hammer. Benefit is pushing the heavier bullets, sending 156s 3050fps. Just got done loading up, time for the range!

Yeah, I have a brand new (not yet scoped) Tikka T3x Lite in 6.5....!!! PRC !!!. I do not own a CM but have hunted and target shot my BIL's CM. I have not shot a 6.5 PRC. I have friends with the PRC but would not even indulge myself if offered given the current 6.5 PRC ammo situation. I was reducing the number of cartridges i support over the last year and a half but, a couple of weeks ago decided I just had to have a 6.5. Much respect for your knowledge and experience as I have gain from reading your posts. I related the exact thought process and results I just went through. For a hunting weapon if I was buying new it would be a PRC, I would not sell a CM to get a PRC. All bets off if I had 3 6.5 CM.

The real problem I see is ammo availability. CM is still hard to find, but much more available than the PRC. The PRC ammo when you can find it is so expensive, I don't know how anyone can afford to shoot it. I have a Browning Hells Canyon that I am still waiting to shoot as I can't seem to get my hands on ammo. I have several people looking and as soon as they find it, the ammo is gone.

I see Hornady Precision hunter 6.5 PRC on the shelf all the time now in the San Angelo Area for ~$50 a box. Both at LGSs and Academy. I probably see in stock more often than I see Creed right now. Not exactly cheap, but not terrible considering what it sells for in a lot of places.

The average hunter will never know the difference. Neither will the deer. Once you get out past 500 yards is where the PRC will start to shine.
