    Q - Trash Panda

I was looking at one of these over the weekend. The guy behind the counter is running one and loves it.

Of the other .30 cal cans they have these are the ones they suggested.

Q- Trash Panda - said this keeps zero after removal

    Dead Air Nomad

Surefire Socom - said this one required less zeroing after removal

I did see the Surefire conversation last week. I just wanted a little more feedback being a newbie to cans and not being able to just run out and replace it if I'm not happy with it.

Surefire socom or KAC QDC cans are top notch but not inexpensive. I have a few and am very impressed with them vs others I’ve owned and used.

I’ve been wanting a Trash Panda and will end up getting one eventually. Just no funds for it right now. In for feedback on them

They should all return to zero every time you remove them and put them back on. I have a SiCo Specwar converted to direct thread and a homemade F1 can and they both are zero when I put them on. I have to take them off to get them in my safe.

          hum,
I have an aac cyclone , it shoots good and sounds great .. but on my 308 the poi shift is 5" at 100 yards between can on or off... 9.5" long and 22.4 ounces . really heavy but built like a tank! i've put thousands of rounds of high power rifle through it and the inconel baffles look almost like new ... and i don't baby it either .. i usually stop shooting when the mirage gets too bad from the heat.

i really don't know the poi shift on my 260 ... i never shot it without it on ..

i would find it hard to believe something is wrong with the can other than it's heavy and changes the way the gun recoils , which I would consider normal .

His comment was more to the fact the zero will not change if you take the can off, then put it back on and shoot.

Not the difference between can on vs. off.

I dont know of any cans that shift POI when removed and them replaced, but I guess there always could be one.

Correct Greenheadless. I guess I read it wrong. Sorry for the confusion on my part. As far as point of impact change between on and off, some will have a little and some will have more. My SiCo is pretty much the same. May be a little difference but not much. My F1 can is about 3" which is still not horrible. I can work with that.

oh ok , i missed that ... so to that point , my 45 can has a booster that has like 8 teeth on it , based on that , if you take it off and on, it can index the can in a different position on the baffle stack ... that does make the poi change a little on a boosted can ... same for my 3 lug as you have 3 options there too .. all my rifle cans pretty much screw on at the same spot , even my qd as it's threads always starts at the same spot too so taking it on and off doesn't change poi as long as i shoot it with the same can , it stays zero ... been doing it every weekend for years when i shoot pigs... no problems ..

i used to leave my 308 can on , i quit doing that.. the carbon builds up on the threads as they are longer on the gun than on the can ... leave it on too long and the can won't unscrew ... had that problem once and friend of mine did too .. now i use a spacer on that gun machined by john Titsworth from xcaliber now silencerstore
                so it stays concentric

I am waiting on a nomad right now. Seemed to be a good value based on my particular needs plus silencershop was running a promo on the nomad at the time, so that helped me make my choice.

You read it right. I was told that some people think you need to rezero when the can is taken off and then put back on. I was asking because I would remove after each use because my hard case is too short to keep it on.

I would guess most people remove the can for storage and transport.

Maybe I misunderstood what he was saying at the shop.

Roger. You should have no zero issues after putting it back on. If you have POI issues with putting it back on then something is wrong. For instance if you dont get it the same tightness (its loose) then you could have POI issues. You will most likely experience at least a little difference in on and off.

I hope this makes sense and I dont sound like a blubbering idiot. LOL

I got a Nomad L and Omega 300. Cannot really tell which one is quieter. Anyone who can is likely just saying that lol.

Unless they hear them back to back on the same exact gun

I get what you are saying. I will do on and off test fires to see what changes.
