how to integrate bipod with mountain horseback hunt

I'm new to western big game hunting and just got back in to rifle hunting after 20yrs of bowhunting.

Heading out to Montana in 3 weeks. I got a bipod for my 300 win mag but it attaches to the swivel. Obviously I will need the sling if we get off the horses and walk. Do I just try to un-attach the front sling attached to the swivel and throw the bipod on if needed and do it quickly?

I’ve had similar set ups & now prefer using shooting sticks
Works for me but you’ll want to try it out first & even practice some

I've never used my bipod while hunting out west because I had a backpack on and the bipod was unnecessary weight. I had my rifle sling across my chest/under my arm similar to this. It actually is quicker to draw than the shoulder sling too.

That said, my bipod has a hole in it for the sling, but it's in a weird spot. Do you see any other holes on your bipod attach the sling?

Here is the gun bearer I used.

I would prefer to use my pack, or shooting sticks personally, but if you want to use a bipod, many have an attachment point for a sling on the bipod mount itself, or you could add another sling stud to your rifle below the bipod mount. Many rifles come with 2 studs now just for this very reason

Install a second swivel to the front. Many guns already come with one for this exact reason.

Which bipod, Harris has an attachment ring for slings on theirs.
I use a bipod and never take it off my rifle except for travel in a case.
I use one for all hunting with no issues and the extra weight is well worth it for me to have a solid rest.
No struggle to get a pack off to set up, just quietly put down the legs and you're ready to shoot.

I see now it's a horseback hunt, be sure to ask if their scabbard will fit a rifle with a bipod, or if you have to supply your own scabbard for the ride in.

Shooting sticks is the best thing to use that double as a hiking stick as well.

I am headed to Utah on mule deer hunt and we will be horseback. I use the hatch bipod.
it attaches to a rail and connects/disconnects super easy/quick.
Hatch Outwest adjustable bipod with automatic self locking legs sets up quickly. Bipod can be configured as a bipod, monopod, or shooting stick.

I got one of these recently and really like it. You can put it on or take it off the rifle in 1 second. It comes with an adapter to put on your rifle and attaches by a magnet

Primos trigger stick bipod or tripod, ditch the bipod IMO. I used a Bog Pod on my last elk hunt and it was worth its weight not only as a rest for the gun and binos but I used it as walking sticks when side hulking and going down some rock slides.

I much prefer my Primos tripod 60" trigger sticks to a bipod or anything else. They're light and easily adjustable and easy to use. Very stable to shoot off of too.
