New World Record, gotta brag a little

Congrats to team shooter Lindsey on her new ELR cold bore world record! We had some great shooting and strong finishes this week at the FCSA matches out in Raton, NM.

While I didn't manage to connect on the cold bore target, I was pretty pleased with this center hit at 3,155 yds.

That was pretty much the last regular match of the season for us. Now its time to prepare for King of 2 Miles!!!

Yes.....and you have to repeat the hit two more times! Basically have to go 3 for 3 on a coldbore start. It is your first shot of the day.

Thanks, bud! It was about 5 1/2 seconds. I put 2 on back to back at 3,700 yds out there last month and was feeling pretty confident about doing it again..........but......... no. Lol

Those are some awesome shots! Congrats!

Robert, once one connects with a cold bore hit at those distances, is it typical to have to compensate (decrease hold) somewhat for the 2nd and 3rd shots due to warmer bore?

Unless you notice a wind shift or other condition change, not normally. The guns we build for this game don't usually experience a cold bore shift. Not saying it can't happen, but if we see a barrel that exhibits that behavior it gets culled. Once you get up into a longer string, its not unusual to see a little shift. That's usually more of a heat sensitivity of the powder vs. a barrel thing. We're running 10-16 round strings at most of these matches and the barrels get screaming hot. You need to be ready to send it quickly after closing the bolt. Unfortunately, there is not really a temp stable powder option for the big cases at this time. That said, the ES/SD numbers we can achieve with what we have is pretty impressive. Low single digits is the norm.
