Have these on my Honda. Mounted horizontal just under the roof- non ratcheting part touches the roof. Works great for me.

I have this on the back of my ranger. It's great, fits 2 rifles/shotguns and keeps the guns out of the elements.
Has a few pockets for storage. I have some 1st aid stuff, bug spray, water in the pouches. Handy and put of the way
