If you are set on vortex I would try to save a little more and even buy used. Still have the life time warranty. Could get this for $650 and if for some reason you don’t like it you could always sale it for pretty close to what you pay for it

Just a follow up to this. I did some shooting over the weekend with a friend's new .224 Valkyrie, and it wore a Vortex Venom. I was impressed with the scope's performance, considering the price range. Glass was good, eye box wasn't bad, and the turrets sounded and felt good. If I were on a budget, I'd buy that scope with confidence.

Looking at the vortex scopes online. Should I go with the new Vortex Venom 5-25x56 34mm or the diamondback tactical ffp 6x24x50 30mm. I know most will say to spend more money but $500 is my budget on this one.
Both of those Vortex scopes are manufactured in China if that matters to you. Search the inet as you can find a Meopta Optika6 (Schott glass made in Czech Republic) priced in you budget. Very good quality glass comparable to the Zeiss made in USA stuff
IMO, I'm not putting Chinese glass on a $1000 precision rifle. At least look for better glass made in Japan or the Philippines over China
If you're happy, that's all that mattersLast edited by Cajun Blake; 07-14-2021, 09:50 AM.

My Vortex Strike Eagle so far tracks perfect and holds zero on the 6.5 creed. Great optic when the sun is behind you. O'head and slightly in front the sun shade is there for a reason. Looking into the sunset the shade extension may as well not even be there. Other than that it's a decent long distance range scope. I really thought the 34mm tube would add more light but it's not even in the class with a 1" tube VX Leupold. Foggy at the far edges too.

Are you saying the turrets are crap, is it because they are capped? I have a 3-18x50 SFP that I hunted with when the Optika6's first hit the shores in the Fall of 2019. Love it. As you said, great glass. The lens coatings Meopta uses are designed for clraitry and light transmission. I used the Z Plus RD reticle so I could dial in my drops using MOA. Now ALL Meopta scopes can be found in the Strelok Pro app. I have used most of the FFP models and I have had absolutely zero issues with repeatability or reliability when turning knobs for long-range shooting. I do some work with Meopta but no sales. There are a number of Authorized Retailers located here in the great state of Texas. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
