    A warning about Ruger pistols.....

When they say "hardened alloy steel slide", they mean poorly blued carbon steel. I've owned two LCP's and both had rust issues. Now I'm not someone who treats his firearms like a hammer. I keep them lubed and oiled. The bluing on both guns was poor, contact with water for any length of time will lead to significant rust. When you see Sig, S&W, Springfield, etc. pistols selling for a little more, the reason is that the slides are stainless steel and have a good nitride coating on them. I won't own another ruger pistol that's not stainless.

I don't know about Ruger as a whole, but I had a Sig rust from humidity alone. I have never had an issue with my LCP.

Never experienced this in the 35 years plus I have owned said brand. I have an lc9 that has been in my truck for 10 years plus no issues like you have mentioned.

If you carry it alot the easiest guns are tupaware guns.

My P365 has a stainless slide with a very good finish. I've gotten it wet on occasion, and it looks like new.

My LCP does have some light rust I touch up with some scotch brite every now and then.
My LCP2, nothing yet (2ish yo). I need to look it over to make sure.

Either way, for me they are a tool. As long as they go bang when asked too I’ll deal with the cosmetic issues.

Fwiw, the 2’s trigger is much better imo than the 1’s.

Speaking of Rugers, it looks like they made their version of the 365/hellcat.

What do you expect for the price? Theyre good guns that do what they should. If you're concerned about finish, look elsewhere.

I have one and really like it. Will fit into my waistband even with a little belly as it is so thin. Good trigger with little recoil and very accurate. Easy to conceal. Fiber optic front sight.

                    Sorry for your bad luck.
I carry my LCP at least three days a week, sometimes more. I only oil the exterior of the pistol if I clean the gun and that rare. I do keep the metal to metal parts clean and greased fairly regular. I have absolutely no rust on this weapon. Maybe it’s just that we don’t have as much humidity up here as y’all do down there.

My Security 9 gets a little surface rust when left in the boat. My S&W SD9 rusted just sitting in the nightstand. Both, like the LCP are $300 guns. I'd much rather have the Ruger than that POS S&W. My Sig P938 doesn't rust, but it's a $600 gun. You get what you pay for.

No problems with my Ruger that stays in the console of my truck most of the time.

Had a friend who bought a sccy 9mm. Put it in his truck console for about 6 months
Took it out to shoot and it's still rusted shut today. Junk. Guess the east texas humidity got it.

Hardened steel is carbon steel and carbon rusts...you can fix surface rust and re blue it.

Can't really expect much out of a $200 pistol. She won't win a beauty contest but my LCP goes bang every time I pull the trigger.
