I have one, in 38 S&W that is stamped with "not British made". Thinking it went to Britain during the war. I have never looked on GB for a value but was told, by the good folk on Smith-wesson forum, That it's value was @ about $200-250 but that was at least 10 yrs ago. There were tens of thousands made during the war for various militaries around the world so they are not rare at all. I have not looked on GB or anywhere else in several years so not sure of the value now.
According to S&W, mine was also made in 1942, March if my memory serves me correctly.
PS: Mine even has a set of staghorn grips like the OP's

Very cool looking revolver. Would be neat to know the history behind it.

                Blue Book of Gun Values.

                Is that nickel or Stainless?
The model # is inside the yoke when you swing the cylinder out.

Can PM more info if you want it.
