    Most Sought After Boolit?

Just curious what y’all think the most wanted round is right now.
Guess we could break it down in 2 groups, one for rifle and one for handgun/pistol.
For me, 270 in 150 grain and 243 in 100 grain.
    Handgun, I have plenty!!!
I’m hoping since most hunting seasons are over, we will see hunting rounds back in stock by summer or sooner.

Most sought after or hardest to find?

I think 223 FMJ and 9mm ball ammo are the most sought after...22 follows closely behind. I know the resellers up front when I have gone to the academy lines always buy those three first....

For hunting it seems like 308 150 gr and 6.5 143gr are tops just reading here and other places.

For me personally it has been 9mm ball, 380 ball and Remington green and yellow box 22-250s. I'm good until Lisa and I start shooting the ball ammo again after this cold front

For me it is 223/556 62 gr soft point. Prefer Federal Fusion, but at this point I’m not picky on the brand. Have 200 rounds of Frontier that has been on back order since Aug.

In fact at this point I’m not sure it wasn’t a scam

Guess we wouldn't be having this conversation if it wasn't for the Joe and Ho Show. **** Sad.

Yea, the most sought after calibers are not necessarily the hardest to find. I would say 223/5.56 is one of the highest demand calibers out there, that and 9mm and 45 ACP. But 5.56/223 are not that hard to find, nor is 9mm. 45 ACP is a bit harder to find. Now 6.5 Grendel is one of the calibers where the demand for that stuff, is way higher than the supply, the prices on 6.5 Grendel has been crazy. 6.5 Creedmoor, has also been very hard to find, in anything other than Hornady ammo. About the only 6.5 mm bullets you will find are Hornady.

As far as reloading components go, finding 140 gr. 6.5 mm bullets has been almost impossible, then when you think you found some, you likely found a scammer claiming to have some. I found two guys, or they found me, who claimed to have both Berger 140 gr. Elite Hunters and 140 gr. Berger VLD Hunters, then Nosler 140 gr. Accubonds. Turns out they were both scammers. I found out, don't post up posts, saying you are looking for specific types of bullets on some of the gun trader groups. You will attract scammers, quickly. The guys that responded to me, both acted very odd, for someone trying to sell bullets. I kept asking questions, they either did not answer or obviously did not know the answer to. Neither deal ever happened. Then later I saw posts by other guys, claiming to have been scammed by the guys that contacted me. I still have not found any of those three bullets, I listed above. You can find Hornady 6.5mm bullets, I am not that desperate yet.

Most of the common older hunting rounds, there is ammo out there, if you know where to look. Specific brand, style and weights of reloading bullets, is a different story. Powders are out there, but they will cost you a good bit, after you pay shipping and hazmat fees. Primers people are acting like they have gold chunks to trade. There are a lot of scammers claiming to have primers. Got to be careful when trying to acquire primers. I have seen guys asking as high as $200 for 500 primers. But there are some guys out there that are trying to sell primers at fair prices. I have seen primers for $37 for 1000, but $45 per 1000 is more common.

What I find a bit irritating, is guys selling powder, primers or loaded ammo that is obviously from the 1940s to 1960s and they are selling it like it's modern ammo. Yes, it could be good, but not knowing how that ammo has been stored for the last 60 plus years, I am not paying the same price for that stuff, that I would stuff that is obviously five years old or less. The primers are the thing that really gets me. Those do not come in sealed boxes, I have had more bad primers over the years, that I assume had been subjected to too much moister, then were duds, when I loaded and tried to fire the loaded rounds. None of those primers that failed on me, were over 10 years old. I have seen guys selling primers that have to be from the 1940s or older and selling them like guys should buy them to use for loading ammo. People have definitely gone digging way back in the back of their closets looking for any old reloading components and old ammo, in recent months.

I have been very surprised how much of that old stuff, still exists. It's cool seeing that old stuff, but to try and sell it at very high prices to guys for the purpose of using the stuff, is crazy.
