Why because they don’t unnecessarily clean their guns like most people do?

Without the use of a bore guide, correct combination of steps/chemicals, a quality rod/brush, a rod of the correct length, etc.... most shooters will do far more damage to the throat and crown of their barrel by cleaning every time they go out than they would have by not cleaning regularly.

A quick chrono test yesterday had ~100 fps swing from my 1st post cleaning round, back to the typical velocity for the string after 3 shots. If you clean every time, you will be spending a measurable % of your rounds on fouling alone... or you will lose your match.

      As always, YMMV.

once a year if that but i usually dont shoot more than 10 rounds a year in my hunting rifles. but i dont need .5 accuracy at 1000yds either. my longest shooting lane is 120 yds.
the .22 gets it about once a month but it gets used a lot more.
