That is pretty awesome. The bolt can be switched to be right handed or left handed. Like a spinning reel. I can see a lot of lefties buying this. Would make it easier to sell when and if they wanted/needed to. Easy to be switched between different handed users as well.

Blaser been making them for years. Pretty neat I may have to pick one up in a year or 2 once they get any kinks worked out

Cool...I was thinking it was like a big collet. But I see they are ball detents that lock up. Cool design.

There have been quite a number of straight pull bolt actions made. There are several .22s used for competition that are straight pull that are in production now.

Among the straight pull bolts of the past is included the Lee:

"The Lee Model 1895 was a straight-pull, cam-action magazine rifle adopted in limited numbers by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in 1895 as a first-line infantry rifle.[3] The Navy's official designation for the Lee Straight-Pull rifle was the "Lee Rifle, Model of 1895, caliber 6-mm"

Looks super dangerous. I would be scared of the bolt blowing thru my face.

Straight pull is nothing new. Blaser rifles been making them for years. I think Austria had one back in WWII . Merkel also has a big bore safari type probably still being made and last but not least (or maybe it is) the Browning T-bolt.

Without looking them up does the bolt head rotate like on a AR15 to lock into the lugs?

I would have a hard time not popping the bolt up from muscle memory. Probably wouldn't be that big a deal unless under stress.

Straight pulls are popular in Europe and have been used in military applications before. The biggest issue is that it’s more expensive to make it strong and a bit more sensitive to being dirty than a normal bolt action.

Haha.. true! Might have to do the old 20ft string and trigger trick for the first couple rounds! Just kidding, I'd trust Savage has built it solid!
