We don't want to be hearing about a "bad shot" so go verify zero!!!

When I worked for the local GS, the Mon/Tues after the first couple of weekends of rifle season kept me busy as "hunters" were bring in their rifles to have zero checked as they had "missed a monster buck" -- some had bad zeros, some had used ammo the rifle didn't like, and some were just plain bad shots. It was always interesting to watch someone shoot a 3 or 5-shot 100 yd group off the bench -- and see a 10-12" group. Then I would say "Let me try it" and shoot a 1-2" group with the same rifle/ammo. They would stomp off griping about paying $50-$75 to the LGS to be shown they were just lousy shots.

        LoL at "bad shot"

seen it so many times they come to range with there sad story..Guns gota be off I made perfect shot..Come to re-sight it in...First shot bulls eye !!!!!DUH....

Grand Son had simular story Shot once he fell and then back up and he shot again..and went down dead...Funny only one HOLE in deer..

Shooting off sand bags and good rest versus resting on something out in field...Big diff maybe..

and then there the Dreaded BUCK FEVER..

        Calm Down

I try and shoot my rifle every time it leaves the safe, missed a few deer over a three year span and it has really messed with my head!

I won’t hunt with with one after running a patch down the barrel with putting a fouler or 2 down the tube first. I couldn’t imagine taking it out of the stock and not checking.

Post pics if you can Im curious how far off it might be.

I have an old Leupold that hasn’t drifted a mm at 100yds for 7 years now and that rifle has been through some rough times.
