    Winchester Model 70 Super Grade

I don’t have any experience with the model 70 super grade. I’m looking at a very early (5 digit) post ‘64 but don’t know a ton about them outside of their classic good looks. Great gun to own? Accurate? Wouldn’t mind adding a big bore model 70 to the collection. Thanks for any input.

I got a 90’s model super grade. Red buttpad gun. I think it’s around the time they came back out with the Mauser style extractor.

    Beautiful gun, shoots great.
    It’s a .270

Accuracy is hit or miss. Serial number is not significant. Should be able to pick it up relatively inexpensively as the market on push feed 70s has been, and likely always will be, soft.

Should have stated soft for big bores.

I had a Model 70 Super Grade 300 Win Mag that was stolen and I didn’t even get to upset. It was the worse shooting rifle I have ever owned. I am no expert, but not a rookie. Changed the trigger and some other adjustments that brought the groups in a bit, but I wouldn’t shoot an animal to much past 100 yards. I purchased new, maybe I just had a lemon.

Sounds like someone did you a favor lol! I absolutely love older classic rifles, own many of them....unfortunately, many don’t shoot worth a darn.

I have a good friend who has a 300 win mag super grade. He is deadly with it. You couldn’t buy that gun from him. Beautiful gun.
