Opinions on Current Rem 700 rifles

Looking for knowledgeable opinions on current production M700 rifles. I have had a few from the 60s and 70s, but looking for current production quality and accuracy.
    Thanks in advance.

none are currently being produced, but I feel that the upper end of newer guns are still really good. The cheap 389 dollar ADL and the SPS may need some gunsmith work to be really good, but no matter they all have the ability to be shooters with a bit of work.

The problem lies in the fact that Ruger along with some others are now making very cheap guns that are very accurate. The rem 700 will always feel like a better gun, but it may not shoot as well as a sloppy Ruger american. However you can take that 700 put a bunch of money in it and have an amazing piece of craftsmanship that you can never do with a ruger american

Much better options out there than anything Remington has produced in the past 10yrs.

Please tell me what those options are. I haven't been in the centerfire rifle market in about 40 years. Actually, my newest is a 73 model.

Both my new (2019 and 2020) R700 purchases shot lights out as did the SPS .270 that my BIL bought.

I sold the R700P 300wm and kept the left handed R700 LTR .308 20" which is just a sweet little blind/truck rifle and shoots factory 168gr Amax into teeny tiny groups at 100 yards.

None of the above are as smooth or neatly machined as the late (no letter prefix) BDL I had which was butter smooth.

Bergara is one of the better mid level guns made right now. Closest thing you can buy to a custom IMO. They use a Rem 700 action platform and that's a plus for parts availability. Any aftermarket Rem 700 trigger will work in a Bergara.
Howa makes a very accurate rifle but the action finish is poor and not very smooth.
Savage is what Savage is. Ugly old tack drivers. Good value. Actions are not always glassy smooth but they shoot.

I bought a 700adl last year from academy in 30-06 and I haven’t had any issues with it. Of course I don’t ask as much from it as some will. I bought it to shoot deer and hogs under 200 yards and it does that nicely. The furthest I’ve shot it is 100yds and it will stack them. My biggest complaint with Remington for years was how easily their matte finishes would rust. They seem to have fixed that issue. I’ve noticed that they use a smoother finish. I own a 700, a Remington made 336 and a new 870 magnum and none have showed signs of rust and have been flawless in operation and accuracy.I owned a 700 adl in 7mm rem mag that shot great but it would surface rust in a heartbeat. I sold it to a sniper dude that wanted to paint a gun anyways. I wouldent hesitate to buy another Remington product

Ruger/Tika/Savage/Browning/Weatherby/Howa/TC/custom this and That... and list goes on...And I wouldn't count out a 10y old Remy

                      Kinda FORD /Chevy (thing)

I have more expensive rifles but I bought this 700 mountain SS 308 new 2-3 years ago and I use it for everything. 7.3 lbs ready to go, beats the heck out of carrying even a standard weight rifle any day. I don’t know how much difference it made but I put a PTG firing pin assembly w/ SS shroud and timney trigger on it. The stock has an aluminum block in it but I went ahead and bed it w/ 3000 psi marine grade epoxy. It shoot great. I’ve used it on mule deer, whitetail, pronghorn, Blackbuck, hogs and coyotes.

Tikka and Bergara are two I would look at today and I have been a 700 fan for years but the 700's I have are older, my newest being from about 1993.

I just got a Tikka T3x Superlite in 243 Win and also just finished working up a load for it. Out of the box, with factory Barnes Vor-TX ammo using 80 gr TTSX bullets it shot 1/2 in MOA. The action is buttery smooth and it was a $700 dollar rifle.

I also bought in the last couple of years a CZ 527 Varmint in 17 Rem.. I never had a CZ before then either and I am also very impressed with that rifle and I think I paid just under $600 for it and it shoots very, very well.

Spot on with all of it. I'd add Weatherby/Howa to the mix, too.
