    Barrel Poll

I have a REM 700, brand new never fired that I won about 6-7 years ago. I’m going to buy a nice barrel and turn it into a 6.5 CM manbun hunting gun. My kid loves his 6.5 so I figure we can be a 6.5 family. Anywho, what company would you use for an aftermarket barrel? Hart, Shillen, some other company??? What say you green screen?

PS: this isn’t a long range super sniper 1000yd gun. Just a hunting gun but I really like accuracy.

      Bartlien
      Krieger
      Lilja
      Proof
      Brux
      Rock creek

Pass on hart, Shaw, Douglas, and the cheaper ones. Saving $50-75 isn’t worth it.

My kid is using 140 gr bullets right now. Is the 8 twist best for heavy or light bulelts out of the CM?

Should be good depending on bullet mfg.

Hart seems to have a big following. Did you have bad luck with them or read some bad stuff on them?

I prefer cut rifle barrels with 5R rifling if possible.

Krieger, Bartlein and Rock Creek have all been very good barrels for me.

I do have a Hart barrel on my 6.5-284 but the others edge it out in accuracy.

And yes 8 twist will be good unless you plan to shoot the heavy mono bullets.

They don’t consistently shoot like the others I mentioned from my experience. I haven’t ever really been a big fan of the cheaper barrels. And Lilja says it best. “We sell only one grade of barrel. Our best”. Unlike some of the others.

Don’t take this as me saying they are junk. They are not. I just have seen a lot better, more consistent results with the others. And I think part of it is about what you’ve been around. Nobody I know shoots them and have the same thoughts as me. Would be fine for a hunting rig

Krieger and Bartlein have both been very accurate barrels for me.

                          Don't overlook PacNor.

Any cut rifled barrel plus Benchmark. I would also consider what your ‘Smith prefers...
I have used Hawk Hill, Bartlein, Rock, Benchmark and the previous Pac-Nor before the fire.

I've got a Proof and Bartlein on my two bolt rifles. Both are excellent w 143gr.
