I have a guy that owes me some money and wanting to give me a LNIB Thor. I don’t own an AR at the moment but guess I could throw it on my Ruger Ranch 300 Blk if I get it from him. Would rather have the cash lol from him, but that might not happen.
Would not spend my money on anything ATN. Have use a multitude of different thermal scopes. ATN being the lowest on that level, and from the horror stories of the customer service. Would be a hard no if I had to spend money on it. But, you are in a different situation may be all you can get I would take it lol..
I’ve had an old school ATN NV scope for probably 7/8 years and no complaints except the IR light wasn’t worth squat. They replaced it three times but I finally just bought a good one. Their CS was good for me, YMMV.
Up until this last month I would have said go for it but then my Thor HD died for no reason. I could count on both hands how many times I actually used it and dies just outside of warrantly. I have paid them already after getting 4 different prices to fix it.
I have the exact ATN Thor you are looking at. Its pretty good for what I wanted, and pretty clear to. I don't hunt large open areas at night and do more spot and stalk around right of ways and fields only 2-300 yards wide. Can easily see body heat for at that distance (and much further) Can usually easily identify larger animals (deer, pigs, yotes) at 150ish (give or take a few yards) with good conditions. Once you get beyond the 2 to 2.5 zoom things start to pixelate but depending it can still be useful. Records good video and takes pictures. Does what I need it to. The latest updates have really cleared things up. Its been a solid scope for me for the year I've had it. Updates are easy to do. I got mine with a really good ATN sale and then an Optics planet sale/coupon so only have a little over $1400 in it.
Had the same one but I believe was the 4x power. This was taken from 70 yards Or so with some zoom. I was pleased with mine, but never used it to its full potential..
Scope could easily pick up heat 2-300 yards out and more.. easy to ID around 100-150
