Reloading 300 blackout SUBSONIC

Who here is reloading your own SUBSONIC 300 black out ammo? I have a 7.5" 300 BLK AR pistol I want to shoot subsonic ammo with my suppressor. What bullets have you found to work best for subsonic on say pigs. I know I will need to keep the shots to 50 yards and under with subsoninc but not sure what bullets or even powder I should start with. So what is your go to subsonic load????

I will find out later this month if I like the Lehi defense or hornady sub x better. As for starting point each bullet manufacture should have load data.

Yea they do but most say they need 1800 FPS to perform correctly. Subsonic is less than 1125 FPS. Just curious if anyone has tried a few different ones to see if one works better than another.

Ok lets try this again. Lol this is the bullet I have loaded for 1020 fps. It is 194 grain.

If it a Lehigh defense bullet, they have been a dismal failure for me. Expands too much and not enough energy to pass through so very sparse blood trails.

I wasn’t impressed with any subsonic loads honesty. I used the hornady 190 sub-x and the Hornady black 205gr. Sighting in the 205’s I couldn’t get them to penetrate 5/8 plywood.

Also shot the 190 sub-x into a already dead pig and got minimal expansion in multiple areas.

There are the discrete ballistics rounds and Makers bullets that I haven’t tried, but at $1 for just the heads was a deal breaker. Even subsonic the pigs run off when hit and scare the sounder, so you might as well use a supersonic bullet to begin with.

I will say that pigs react differently to suppressed supersonic shots vs regular shots and follow up shots are easier.

I’ve switched to the barns 110 tac-tx supersonic and have had great results. I’ve also got some of the 190 subx hand loaded supersonic and am going to try them out this season on deer/pigs.

Save the subsonic for target shooting and the wow factor at the range, and hunt with supersonic ammo.

At what distance were you shooting the plywood and dead pigs?

265 gr hard acme hard cast at 1000 fps blows through mature boars at 75 yards square in the shoulder.

They aren’t super accurate but can keep 2-3” groups at 100 yards.

50 yards. Shot them out of a 16” bolt action with suppressor, and a 7.5” pistol ar suppressed with similar results.

Very true. I haven't shot many with subs, but very disappointed. You pretty much need have a head or neck shot and then, expansion is not very important. I have killed a spike with Makers and had good results. But they are pricey. The problem is that subs just have so little energy.

But I have had good results with Barnes Tac-TX supersonic.
