If you had your choice, lever action Henry Steel 30-30 or stainless Marlin Guide Gun in 45/70.

Going with the 30/30. Dang I wish I’d had kept the one I had.

Depends on the application. They are both good guns

I tend to lean more toward the 30-30 side of the fence.

But they don't have the Marlin in 30/30, just a Henry.

Then I would probably get a marlin 4570.
I'm just not a fan of the loading system on the henry.. unless it's one of the side load models.

Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 no doubt. Awesome gun/cartridge. Love shooting the one my uncle has. Leaves big holes in stuff.

If recoil is an issue the 30-30 but honestly if I can shoot a 45-70 anyone can. I weigh about 145 on my best day so it ain't crazy bad.

Recoil isn’t an issue for me, I just have a lot of components to load the 30-30.

I have 4 or 5 lever rifles. I have shot a lot of pigs with a 30-30 and 1 or 2 with a 45-70. I personally would choose the Marlin 45-70.
If by chance there is a .444, that would be my choice.
I don't think you will go wrong with either. I prefer the Marlin.
