New 6.5 Grendel shot about 10 times. Any ideas on what is causing the ding in these cases?

that dent is being caused after the round is fired ,, take a small piece of mole skin and stick it across the shell deflector at the back of the receiver opening,,, chances are that will take care of it
usually a dent caused by the deflector is a little larger than that but it does cause a lot of dented brass in about that locationLast edited by xman59; 09-26-2020, 05:51 PM.

Where in relation to the rifle position is the brass landing after it is ejected? It should be about 90 degrees from the ejection port. In front of the shooter, overgassed. Behind, undergassed. Gas port can be opened up and an adjustable gas block installed for under. Just an adjustable gas block for over. My guess is over gassed from the look of the brass dents.

Most Grendels tend to be over gassed.
