Scope or red dot. Ruger 7.62x39

Was able to pick up a Ruger 7.62x39 this weekend. I am thinking of putting a red dot on it or short range scope.

Anybody have any suggestions or other options. Gun will be a general use gun.

    Get a 1-4/6/8 scope.

Leave it on 1x riding around, and turn it up if time allows it. It's the best of both worlds.

        Yep... I’d go with a 1-6

I have a red dot on my 300blk and a 1x4 on my 6.5G. The 300blk rides in the Ranger and is a run and gun rifle. The 6.5G is more for traditional hunting and what my daughter will be using for deer hunting this year. So they both are good in their own way. I will say I can shoot just as good with the red dot as I can the Leupy on my 6.5G at 100yds. All in how you are going to use them.

go with a scope. I dont think a red dot will let you fully utilize the abilities of that round
