So Ive built a 257 weatherby over the last year. Ive have been buying the silver boxed weatherby loads 100 gr norma Spitzer. Box shows speeds of 3500 fps. I havent shotvit through the chrono but all my data from shooting and measuring is putting me at around 3300. Anyone else got these speeds from this ammo.

I cannot speak for the .257 but most of my Chrony readings indicate that the ammo manufacturers lie..... a lot. Weatherby ammo seems to be closer than most.Comment

I have shot the spitzer ammo you are talking about through my vanguard and it runs right about 3250-3280 in my rifle. To be fair my vanguard has a 24 in barrel and that is a big factor. I believe the .257 really needs a 26 in barrel. The gun is accurate with that ammo and have stuck with it. When I run out I will look into reloading for it. Several other factory loads in my other rifles are underwhelming considering the stated velocity on the box versus the chrono.Comment

Thanks. Mine is a 26" and ive used the applied ballistics app and 3340 is what my actual shooting data is telling me.Glad to So i can see im not too far off.Comment

Yes i did. I shot 2 at 200 -225 missed 2 more at 375 and at 350. So thats the reason I started double checking my velocities. Im good now. Target is at 380yds center of the bull on last shot. Then rang gongs out to 500.
