    Form 1 advice...

With the new lathe coming I can easily see a Form 1 suppressor in my future, after I gain confidence in my machining tolerances. Considering doing a solvent trap to start it possibly just machining a monotube inside a sleeve.

Was wondering who has done a Form 1 can and what obstacles you ran into. I’ve been researching it and feel up to speed on the requirements.

I made one not to long ago. Pretty easy process really. Bought a tube, bought storage cups and spacer material. Efiled for a form 1. Got approved in about 38 days. Engraved, drilled holes and now have a 15 ounce 7"x1.5" suppressor that works great on my 16" AR-15. Total cost was $610 dollars including the stamp. I used thetrustshop.net to do my trust online was really easy and cheap to make. They also have a form 1 generator where you just fill in your information and it will print out a copy of it and show you what goes where. Paid 20 bucks to have finger prints done at police station and ordered fingerprint cards from the ATF website, I got like 50 sheets and they are free from the ATF.

Once you submit your Eform 1 just wait till you get an email with your cover letter print it out and then mail in 2 finger print cards to the ATF. The trust shop.net has a really good little tutorial on how to fill everything out and what all is required. For the passport photo I just downloaded a passport photo app took a selfy and emailed to my computer.

I mean I really had no obstacles at all once I got into it. Really really easy and simple to do once you get into it. Will have a 9" built probably early next year for $650 including stamp and then will have my TC Encore Form 1 SBR this winter for a 2 stamp gun.

Slightly above hearing safe on an AR-15 but close enough for me. Haven't tried it on a bolt gun yet. Click image for larger version

Yep started life as a solvent trap then I form 1 it and now it is a suppressor. Handful of holes on a mill/lathe and boom ready to go. Ordered parts from SD Tactical Arms (tube and end caps), White Trash Tactical (heat treated Stainless cups), Pure Performace Armory (titanium cups) , and Super Precision Concepts (titanium spacer material). I wouldn't be afraid to use this one up to long action non magnums, but next one I build is going to be 9" long and built for my 7 mag, .270, and .308. The one I currently made is really just going to go on my varmint rifles and thats it. For .22 cans you can get a get from XRT tactical for like $125 bucks + stamp ready to go just needs drilled out and in 30-40 days have a .22 can.

Thats what I'm looking at, will the XRT Tactical .22 can handle a .223?

No it will not rim fire only. If looking at a .223 will want to get into a titanium and stainless steel can and bigger diameter at least 1.5" vs the .22 cans that are only 1"

                  Figured so, I was thinking about a 1.5” x 6” can for the .223.
