tell me about your APR .300 PRC

thinking about this for Nilgai. Alamo will get my bid. anyone have an Alamo built .300 PRC. Shoot good?
    Dumb question, right??

Components and ammo SO hard to find and $100 a box !!!

Rifle will be fairly heavy so I can keep my fillings and crowns from popping out but still huntable.

300 prc is a beast little more power than a 300 win mag.

You can buy loaded hornady ammo for about 40$ a box at academy. My local store had 6-8 boxes on shelf.

I had them build me a 30 nosler. I had plans for a 300WM but found a great deal on a defiance ultra mag action so I went with the nosler and very glad I did.

Does ADG, lapua, norma or Bertram make brass for the prc or is it hornady only? I assume you reload. I liked the idea of having some loaded ammo available for the nos but in reality its spendy and very limited in availability.

Performance wise they're nearly identical regarding the 30 nos and prc. Both will edge out the ole 300winny performance wise with heavies but the winny has a huge edge on factory ammo.

Here's my Defiance with a muller barrel and AG stock. Running ADG brass, redding dies, and H1k pushing a 230 berger at 2950 f4om a 26 inch barrel.

A pic of a loaded 215 berger and groups at 100, 300 and 600. These were shot on 3 different trips over a 2 week period COLD bore dial and shoot.

I also shot a 3 inch group at 300 with 1 round of each; 200 nos accubond, 200 federal trl, 215 and 230 berger.

Sorry, not much help on the prc side but something to.think about.

That's an awesome gun, something for me to talk to Robert about

I'm loving it. Ill run the 230 berger for anything I may hunt except for Nalgai. For the blue bull I'll run the 200 grain Federal TLR or what ever they're calling it at 3k.

I’ll second Slick’s original comments. Alamo is building my 30Nos right now and will be using it as a do-all type gun. Robert has been great at answering my questions as well along the way. That was before the move though

I went with the 30 because I don’t need the factory ammo backing. If I wasn’t a hand loader the factory loads would be hard to argue with.

            YMMV.

Good luck and post up when she’s finished.
