    Who hates cleaning firearms?

I used to enjoy it as a kid. Loved the smell of Hoppes and RemOil when I cleaned my H&R Topper 20 Gauge and Ruger 10-22.

Took great pride in my cleaning kit.

Then I went in the Marines and spent a whole lot of time cleaning the M16-A2, Beretta, and 60mm mortar system.

Now I can hardly bring myself to do it. Kind of like camping, I guess.

Anyone else not enjoy it or procrastinate doing it?

Guilty I usually clean mine once they start to gum up or jam from being dirty lol...

I need to be more religious about cleaning my carry gun.

Bore cleaning is the only part I don't enjoy any longer, but the wipe out foaming cleaner & pull through patches has made it much simpler. Haven't used a brush in years.

For the rest of guns like autos, I spray down metal parts with WD-40 to loosen up / de-gunk & then hit it with a degreaser safety solvent & lube...it's painless, although I do agree I don't enjoy the process like I used to.

i used to clean them once a year prior to retirement. When I lived in the suburbs I appeared to have more time for the little things. Since retiring I have fallen short on this task.

Cleaning firearms is like leg day in the gym. The only thing worse than doing it is the consequences of not doing it.

Clean guns? Are you supposed to do that? Lol!

I hear you, I hate doing it, and made my kids do it. Now I'm stuck with it, with the exception of the AR platform I guess it's not too bad. But, I'm definitely not the guy who thinks I'll have an enjoyable afternoon and clean a few firearms.

My cleaning is almost 180 degrees different from when i was younger. I probably ruined a couple of good barrels scrubbing the **** things so much.

I get a great sense of pride and accomplishment cleaning my firearms and can't wait to lay out newspaper, assemble cleaning rods, and get Hoppes all over everything.

                I hate it.

On top of having to clean them, there are apparently 10000 ways better to do it now than the way I learned as a kid and in the military.

I hate it with a passion. I’ll clean them when the malfunctions start. I try to at least wipe the exterior down. I know I’ll never change, therefore I try not to have many high end guns because I’ll just ruin them.

The only thing worse than cleaning guns, is doing a break-in on a new barrel. I despise that process. Shoot, clean. Shoot, clean. Shoot clean. Do that til you’re tired of it and do it some more.

                        Bam! ^^

Nothing like a gun jamming when you expect it to fire. Been there, experienced that!

Most benchrest shooters have abandoned the practice...clean & go shoot next time.

Am in the “not like to clean” camp also. That is one reason I don’t shoot black rifles much anymore, that and I lose too much brass with them. I can get by without cleaning my bolt guns much because most have custom barrels. Cleaning often is no fun.

So...if I wanted to give up all the rods, brushes, patches, etc. for .22, .270, 556, 7mm08, and 7.62....what should I buy to make the job easier and faster?

                              Thanks.
