    What Red dot and magnifier?

Looking to get a red dot and magnifier for one of my AR15s. What are some decent options that won’t break bank? Would prefer something that is shakeawake or very long battery life.

Sightmark would be a good option. I have never owned one, but a few buddies love them.

IMO skip the dot/magnifier and get a 1-4/6/8 scope. Burris, Vortex, Atibal all make good options.

I have vortex 1-6 on mine and wish I got the red dot with magnifier just my opinion everyone has their own style. The scope gets the job done.

If you’re wanting it for hunting I would go the LPVO route instead. If you want it for a practical carbine for defensive type of work then a dot and magnifier is a great option. I’m not sure what’s available on the cheaper market but the Eotech G33 is a fantastic magnifier and works behind many optics

I have a little bit of astigmatism but its fine when using a RDS at 1X but when I put a magnifier on it just amplifies the imperfect dot too much.
So I go with etched reticles for everything more than 1x.

I'd suggest looking into a Burris RT-6 LPVO scope

                    1-6x mag range
battery illuminated reticle when needed & etched reticle when not
made in the Philippines instead of communist China
really good edge to edge clarity for a $300 dollar scope
                    lifetime warranty

Agreed on a 1-6/1-8. Get back up iron sights at 45 degrees or in line with a QD optic mount if you’re using it as a defensive weapon.

Well he did say on the budget minded side. Holosun are the best at the price point, if you want to spend more then an MRO is fantastic and more than that either an Aimpoint or eotech. Cheap and made in America can’t be found together

Lots of quality products come from overseas. Best optic in the lower tier price range is going to be something from holosun
