    Weatherby Vanguard Meateater options

Call me a fanboy, but I'm looking at the weatherby vanguard meateater edition. Link here: MeatEater Edition
The barrel twists on that models options in 7mm and 300's are geared towards light to mid bullet weights.

Being a 7# rifle, you may wish to consider if you want a brake or not as a 300WBY for example is going to let you know its there at 7#+scope.

I think the 6.5 options are the best choice for that platform, both 1:8" fast twist will let you shoot most any 6.5 bullet.

    That 6.5-300wby is smoking fast.

I am a huge fan of the 243 and 7-08 as youth rifle options but I've become even a bigger fan of the 6.5CM for the same.

What about a “ texas” gun, 257 Weatherby. For some reason when ever I hear the 257 Weatherby I think it would be a great all around gun for living down there, any where really but just seems to fit Texas.

I'm a .243 fan myself. Just make sure you get the right twist to stabilize 100 grain bullets well.

.308 I have a 300 Wby and it's a beating to shoot over six or seven times in a session at my age.

I really like the idea of the 6.5 PRC but I don't really want to add another caliber to the fold while ammo choices are limited.

All great guns in different calibers mentioned. Have a savage in 308 and does everything I need it to. Great round for varmints to elk and anything in between. JMO.

You need a ar-15 in 6.8spc or 6.5 grendel...great hog hunting rifle...accurate and quick follow-up shots...perfect for groups of hogs.

                  .308 fits the bill.

                  -great ammo selection
                  -low recoil
