    Here’s my 22 trainer.

That is a nice looking gun... I think I need to get one!

I almost pulled the trigger on a 6.5 PRC before I got my .300 win mag for Africa. Ammo availability in country is the only thing that kept me from picking that round.

We have moved to subsonic 22lr ammo because it seems to be a little more accurate at these ranges but wind is the real challenge. We are shooting at steel targets with wind flags all along the ranges.

It's crazy fun to hear the hits way out to 300-400 yds.

        Good luck.
I've been playing with my Savage bolt at extended ranges. At 350 yards, I can get 4 or 5 hits in a row on an 8" gong, then the next shot will sail 10' high or low. The gun is a regular 1 MOA shooter at 100 yards. I don't know if it is me (doesn't feel like it, crosshairs never move off the gong) or ammo related.

Which Savage are you using?. Heavy barrel?

            Hard to say.

I've found that with rimfire at these distances anything can happen! Assuming, your setup is sound i.e. scope, rings, bases, etc. are all good I'd probably blame it on the ammo. That's one of the reasons we mostly shoot subsonic so the bullets don't have to destabilize going through the sound(transonic - I think) barrier twice.

I'm certainly no expert though and maybe someone else can chime in.

Also, trigger pull is hugely important here. Do whatever you can to get a light, consistent pull.

Subsonic are definitely more stable at distance in a rimfire for that very reason.

I totally agree BUT you better have a ton of elevation clicks or be ready to hold way over!

                Fun stuff.
