    17wsm

Anyone have recent experience if Savage fixed the accuracy issues with the B-Mag and 17WSM? Thoughts if this round will even stay in production? Looking for something between 22LR and .223

I have a Savage Bmag. There is not an accuracy problem, there is a cheap stock issue. If you get a good aftermarket stock they are very accurate. I just filled in the cheap plastic stock with epoxy to stiffen it up and she is good to go.

The stocks still are cheap, but mine still shot great in the warped plastic stock.
I upgraded to a Boyd’s, but I never had any accuracy issues with mine. Mine shoots the 20 grain a lot better than the 25 grain.

Out of the ones I've shot the heavy barreled ones shot the best. I don't know if that's common or not but that's what I've noticed. Not to say the other didn't shoot "good enough" and it probably was capable of doing better with better glass on it. My only complaint with the B-Mag is that it has to be off safety when a round is chambered. Not a big deal necessarily but I'm just not used to that. But as far as accuracy problems go I haven't seen it. My buddies B-Mag will shoot a three shot group with only two visible holes left in the target at 100 yards on a good day. Last weekend I shot a bullfrog through one ear and out the other with it at 50 yards. It's a good shootin rifle.

Look into the 17hornet as well. I have a CZ Varmint 527 that will print 1/2” groups at 100.

Oh yeah big time. Didn't really tear it up as bad as I figured it would though. I just needed the legs off of it so I wasn't too concerned about it but when I saw how much damage it didn't do I was shocked. I've hit starlings and baby prairie dogs with the .17wsm and they looked pitiful after that bullet hit em. That bullfrog was intact.

I have that same model of CZ in the 17 Remington. They make a really nice and accurate off the shelf rifle.

The 15.5 grain loads are 3,950! 20’s are still running 3650. Screaming fast little pill.

I do as well, reason for asking for personal experiences with them. I want to stay in a rim fire but more than 22LR. Is there an all copper HP or FMJ bullet that’ll stay together a bit better?

I know at one time there was a hollowpoint available for the .17wsm but I haven't seen them advertised in a while. I shot a coyote at around 125 yards, I don't remember what grain of bullet it was but it was a v-max and it went clear through on a broadside shot. I probably got lucky and missed the ribs but I was pretty impressed that it passed through.
