    Scope mount help—sako

I have a buddy that just bought a sako 85 finnlight in 260. He picked up a leupold scope for it and needs help getting the right bases and rings. Looking for advice on what to buy, as the optilock mount system is new to me. Open to any brand/suggestion.
Will post up a pic of the scope box.

I’ve used optilocks on a few sakos and they are top notch. Little pricey but never had an issue and like the rings inside that help align the scope without fighting with them.

Here is my problem... I’ve never seen them. Do they have rings that lock on to a proprietary base, like leupold? Or is it one piece where the ring basically bolts to the rifle?
I feel stupid asking but the internet hasn’t been kind on this one.

Proprietary base and ring system that mounts directly to a dovetail machined into the action. Rings include insert to not mar/scratch the scope tube. My choice would be the optilik or Talley

I like that you can get different materials too to make it match better. Stainless bottoms and black tops on this rifle.

I have one rifle with the Optilock rings and other one with a EGW rail and Burris Signature rings in medium for a 50mm objective scope.

Thanks for the help guys. Now it makes sense. I haven’t actually seen the rifle. Didn’t realize that they had a dovetail machined into receiver. Kept making me think they needed a rail installed first. Too many remingtons on the ol brain haha

I have the optiloks on my Sako Finnlight and I hate them. The screw heads are way too soft and I had 2 strip out before the recommended torque spec was reached. I plan on replacing them with a Contessa pic rail that is designed for their proprietary mounting design. This will allow for an endless choice of rings.

We’ve been making world-class optics that bear our family name for over 100 years. We honor that legacy every day as we design, machine and assemble…
