Good, lightweight scope with reliable tracking?

I'm looking for a scope <20oz for a lightweight setup. The weight part is easy. The hard part is reliable tracking and return to zero.

    Does such a thing exist?

I know many like the Leupold VX-5HD at 19.2oz. But I see too many reports of people having tracking issues with it. Similar with the Swarovski z5 scopes. I know Nightforce will track, but they are closer to 30oz than 20. Is there anything in the <20oz range that will reliably track?

NXS 2.5-10x42. They have complete crap reticle choices IMO, but they weigh in at 20 oz and they’re as reliable as anything on the market. The NXS set the bar for durability and reliability.

I don’t have any experience with it yet other than man handling it, but the new Vortex Razor LHT would be something I’d take a serious look at. I’ve never had any issues with the Razor line personally, and I’ve only seen two out of hundreds if not more that I personally know of. Obviously this being a new product may not be the case, but I’d at least consider it. The turrets felt good, a decent reticle, and really good glass in a lightweight hunting package.

I just got one of these but haven't mounted it as my smith isn't done with the rifle yet. But yes good glass and lightweight. Hoping it tracks and holds up as it will be a winner as a hunting scope

Haven't had a chance to really run my vx5hd through the ringer yet but that is what I went with to get me a sub 20 ounce hunting scope with a turret. What issues are you hearing about for them? Not repeatable or just not a true 1/4 per click kinda thing?

Only lightweight scope I truly hammered on was a leupold vx6 3-18. Never missed a beat. Lots of shots. Lots of turret turns. Stayed true. Mk4 as well but the glass is so much better on the vx6.

I gave up chasing a lightweight mil scope. I accepted the 25-30 ounce area.

This has pretty much been my conclusion. I give up too many features, reliability, glass, etc to go as light as is like. I’ve been running 28-30oz optics in my hunting rifles the pst few years, as I wasn’t willing to sacrifice one or the other to save a few ounces. A 4-16x42 NF ATACR with MILC reticle would be the perfect hunting optic to me if it wasn’t for the **** rotating ocular. It’s still pretty dang close though, so I live with it. I’ve got a Kahles 5-25i that I like a lot, but I’m not sold on the weight and size. I may trade it for the 318i to shave some length and weight. NF also makes the NX8 2.5-20 which comes in at 28 ounces, so it’s within my desired range. I hope that Vortex LHT lives up to the Razor line. If so it’ll make a nice option. The NXS 2.5-10 I mentioned earlier would suit me if it wasn’t for the craptastic reticles, but man I just can’t get pst the MILR or MOAR.

sounds like I may just stick with another NX8. Was thinking it was too heavy but at least I can trust it.

How much are you willing to pay?

The unicorn is made by March-- Their 3-24x42 FFP or 2.5-25x42 SFP models are 21.5oz and 21.8oz respectively.

                      Phenomenal glass and absolute repeatability.

Reticle selection is the kicker here. Hence why I decided to jump up a few ounces and keep a reticle I like.

While my mk6 doesn’t have the best glass, the C2 turret and TMR reticle are money.

My kahles 624i with SKMR blows it out of the water but is heavy.

I can't believe how many of you guys are running a Christmas tree reticle on a dedicated hunting rig. To busy for my taste for the quick shots when needed.
