All of mine wear either 1-6 or 1-8 variable scopes in Larue cantilever mounts.

I’ve made respectable groups out to 300 yards with my 300 Blackout SBR with this setup.

Whatever 3-9 or 4-12 you like. I use Weaver extra high scope mount/rings.

Personally don't understand the draw of a 1-4 or 1-6 power scope. If I had one, it would probably be on 3 or 4 power all of the time with not much more magnification to be had should I want it and have the time to crank it up.

Yes, I already hear someone saying ' but you don't need more magnification'.

I like the option & when is it ever bad to make the target appear closer?

Not something I use a rifle for. I'd rather have some idea where the bullet will stop.

That is what my 1911 .45 acp is for.

But a good point if the gun is going to be by your bedside.

Just ordered an Athlon Talos 4-16x40 for the little DPMS 223 I just got. For $175 I don't think you can go wrong especially for a plinker or hog gun.

Well I would recommend a thermal but for a traditional scope I love my 1-8 from vortex

                      Moving targets
                      Close targets
                      Shooting while moving
                      Shooting moving targets while moving

All of my scopes get left on their lowest power setting. It could be 1x, 3x, 4.5x, 6x—until I know I need more power, I keep it bottomed out.

Think of all the perks of a red dot on an AR, and then give it a good reticle AND 6 or 8x magnification—that’s why folks like them.

I’m thinking about this for my next build. I got an email today where it looks like they’re releasing updated versions.

I can’t decide between this or the 1x6 from PA though.

This is what I ended up ordering. Cheap, but reviews were good.

Actually with the right ammo overpenetration is much less likely with an AR than a 45/40/9mm.

That's typically handgun or shotgun range.

It’s also AR range if that’s what you have in your hands
