I want a Ruger No.1

I don't like some of the models, I like the varmint I believe it is with the heavy barrel.

Who has one and what caliber?

I'm thinking the 243.

get something a little more exotic than a 243,,, like 6mm rem, 204 ruger, 280 ackley,
30-40krag ( buddy has one in a #3) etc,,,,, great choice in rifle but 243 is kinda mundane like 308 or 30-06, or 30-30,,,,, find you one that is special!

Yeah buddy! One of my all time favorite calibers now.
Have a pre 64 70, and a mint M77 Tang.

I love Ruger 1s but they can be hit or miss accuracy wise. Have an '06 that about drove me nuts a decade ago. After a ton of work it'll kill what it's pointed at but isn't going to win any target competitions.

I have a No.1B in 6mm. Its my go to for hill country hunting.. It's a tack driver..

I'd go with the 6mm as well but keep in mind, the No. 1 is a heavy gun anyway so the Varmint model is going to going to weigh in around 9-10 lbs. I've had two of them and I love them but carrying one around caused me to part with them.

I have a 25-06 in the varmint and a 7x57 in the international. Both are great!

Had to sand out forend to get barrel clearance and bed it to receiver and did a trigger job. It was 5 lb
