If you're wanting the XP model Thermion, there is nothing you've got to wait on. The XP's already have the new improved thermal sensor in them, so they are good to go with no other changes to them for 2020. Sometime soon Pulsar will be phasing the XP38 1.5x $4,499 out of production as they move all their manufacturing capabilities to the XP50 2x $4,999. Since the XP50 sells better and they can't keep either one in stock, they decided to make just the XP50 and hopefully be able to keep up with demand.

As of today 2/19/20 I've got a handful of the XP38 and XP50 both in stock.

Totally agree about FOV, it's a huge factor tat night and most people never consider it. The good news is both XP models have some of the widest FOV's on the thermal market. The XP38 is 85ft at 100 yards and the XP50 is 65ft at 100 yards. Compare that to 30ft for the (soon to be discontinued) Thermion XM38 and 24ft for the XM50. Even the older Trail XQ38 only had a 50ft wide FOV and the Trail XQ50 was 38ft.

FOV is one of the most over looked specs in a thermal scope.

I have been running the Thermion XP38 since around Christmas and have killed roughly 50 hogs. Since I use the scope as a scanning tool also I really liked the 85’ FOV. Often times when I get in close I will bump the zoom to 2x on a group or maybe a tad more if it’s just a single pig. I’ve been really happy with the scope and I’m not sold that the .5 difference in base power is worth the loss in FOV. My son is 7 and he’s been on the gun a bunch of times and is having no trouble knocking out some big pigs. The ability for him to follow along and watch on the cell phone is also a reason I love the Pulsar. Click image for larger version
