Always that one shot that messes up a group.......

At the range yesterday working on some loads for my 224 Valkyrie AR. I had 5 left after the 100 yard group work and a 300 yard drop test to figure BC of the load I've pretty well settled on. Hornady 80gr EldM over H4895 powder. Great SD's, decent velocity, runs about 3/4" out of the cheap PSA AR. Anyway, based on the drop I saw at 300 (10.4" with a 100 yard zero, or just under 1 mil) I dialed up 1.4 mil for the shots at 345 yard steel. First shot, perfect. Second, third and fourth shots, I could just barely see any other impacts. Cool, let's get a good 5 round group now. Nope, got anxious and pulled number 5. ****it. Screwed up what would have been a personal best group at that range. Opened up from 0.38MOA to almost 1.5MOA.

Orange paster dot is a 3" I stuck on there for reference for the app to measure.

Nice, that 5th one is probably the most accurate for a real situation with nerves getting up.

Been there. It's just hard to figure out. Chalk it up to operator error and try that load again.

No doubt it was the nut behind the wheel.

A little white paint and you had an amazing 4 shot group. One more shot than most... just to prove you could repeat it forever

Can't tell you how many times I've had 4 shots into a perfect hole only to have #5 make a figure 8 due to a missed wind flag / condition...had to keep myself from throwing hi dollar benchrest rigs downrange more than once. Infuriating!!

You need to get further than 300 to adequately calculate bc. It usually doesn’t come into effect until about 800 yards.
