Trying to ID this stock. It’s an old one but not original to the gun as I understand it.

    Thanks for the help!!

Or an original stock/high school woodshop project. I did the same thing to mine.

Story is - bought from an estate from the grandson of the owner. Absolute shooter - 1937 model 70 in 7x57

Just trying to find out the story on stock. It’s clearly not original but I love the look and it shoots better than anything in my safe, regardless of value.

Why do you think someone is going to know about a custom stock? It appears to be aftermarket.

Have you taken the gun apart and checked for markings on the stock? Barrel channel is where I’d look.

Why would I not ask if someone could point me in the right direction.

If you do a little googling your can find pics of this stock on similar Pre 64, just can’t come up with it.

Fair enough, Or should I head ashamedly for the search function next ?

Didn’t and still don’t care to really take it apart. Not THAT curious.

                  Thanks!
Obviously given the year, and the caliber, I would prefer it to be all original. But, I really love the way it looks, and it shoots better than it looks.

Unless it was a full on custom built stock there is an extremely good chance that piece of wood was purchased from Fajen or Bishop both originally out of Warsaw Missouri. You could buy complete stocks inletted blanks and blanks from either. Your stock looks a lot like a Fajen pattern that used to be very common. Fajen bought Bishop and Larry Potterfield (Midway USA) took over and closed the doors in 98 I believe.
