I have owned two. Always regretted selling the first one.

It is my second favorite round. Most people that don't like it try to use it for something it is not. You have to know the limitations, and stay within them. Inside of 100 yards a 17HMR to the ear or neck will drop most critters. I love being able to take head shots on squirrels at 50+ yards. It is so satisfying! Don't expect it to shoulder punch a running coyote and it be DRT.

I have had the best results with the CCI TNT bullets. My current Savage 9317 Heavy barrel and my old remington 597 17hmr both grouped those inside of a dime at 100 if it was not windy.

I and my son have dropped alot of hogs all sorts of sizes right in the ear hole. Long as you hit where you are aiming, they don't move much after the shot.

Love the HMR, cheap to shoot and so dang accurate.

A17 with a 25 round clip can do some damage. Zero recoil so I can put 3-4 in the body or if I have time 1 to the head. But since I bought the 17 WSM I don't shoot the HMRs as much.

I cant think of many critters that have ran off from mine and its got to be the most accurate 200 bucks Ive ever owned.

I’ve seen a many varmit run off with 17 hmr hole in it. Just my 2 cents

I absolutely love mine. It’s killed many of things from pigs to yotes and coons. Does a great job on predators especially if trying to keep the hide. Heck I’ve even gotten it dialed to where I can consistently shoot to 300yds with it.

I have only shot .17 Winchester Super Mag Rimfire Ammo. 3000 fps. shoots sub 3/4" 8 shot groups at 100 yards. I found it on sale few years ago and bought 10 or 15 boxes so I haven't tried any others.

I just bought another HMR, but im super anxious for Zermatt to release the new RIMX action with the WSM bolt head. Im going to build a balls out rimfire rifle.
