So the slug worm 45-70 is Big Bore? I'll pass.

The 45–70 is the quintessential big bore… What else would it be?

The terms “big bore and middle bore” are usually spoken from an African hunter’s perspective. I believe like here in the states there are regulations of what calibers can be used on certain game. Like it or not a .338 anything is considered a middle bore.

I have a 375 H&H and have had 378 Wby Mag both midbores.
I have a couple of 416 Rigbys and have had 416 WBY Mag wihich are considered big bores.
My 338 Lapua is a measly mid bore also.

In case anyone doesn't know, here is the historical breakdown:

"I]Small-bore refers to calibers with a diameter of .32 inches or smaller. The medium-bore refers to calibers with a diameter between .33 inches up to .39 inches and large-bore refers to calibers with a diameter of .40 inches or larger. Miniature bore historically referred to calibers under .22.[/I]"

Have had a few over the years. 375 Ruger, 375 H&H, 378 Wby, 45-70, 458 Lott, and 460 Wby. With the big kickers, the rifle itself makes a huge impact on shootability. I really like the way the Mark V shoots, but same as well with the Ruger Hawkeye.

I don’t own any big boomers anymore. Did have a Savage at one time in .458 win mag. That thing was pure poison on hogs.

Biggest thing I have now is .338 win mag , and a .348 Winchester.

Just put together a .45 raptor. Ballistics are insane.

                          Hell yes!

My only one is a .444 Marlin levergun. It’s nothin fancy but I love shootin pigs with it. I need to order some cooler ammo, I’ve just been shooting the readily available 240gr Core Lokts.
