If I am wanting to purchase a suppressor in the future for this build, would your opinion on which caliber change?

I’d have to go 308. For the ammo choices mostly. These rifles can be so picky having a wide selection of ammo will help in finding an accurate load.

Getting a 30 cal can will allow you to shoot it on any of your other rifles that are threaded in the same or smaller caliber as well.

The PSA Gen 3 platform is a solid choice and you can get some great deals on complete uppers and lowers.

I went with the 6.5cm, added a drop in CMC 2.5lb trigger that was also on sale. This rig is far from a lightweight set up so keep that in mind if your primary purpose will be running around night hunting hogs. My goal was a sub-moa gas gun that could run to 1000 yards for around $1000 (including optic). I ended up coming in closer to $1200 with optic so now I just need to stretch it out.

I will say that it is superbly accurate- ran two boxes of Hornady Match 120gr ELDM and it was shooting sub .5" at 100 yards with the best group ringing in just under a quarter inch.

The 6.5cm may not be optimal for hogs but I think there are plenty of offerings (GMX and LRX) that will get the job done just fine and it will also be a whitetail killing machine.

As far as ammo choices I would bet there are as many 6.5cm offerings as .308 on the shelves now at most box stores.

Can't go wrong with either for your purposes- just letting you know what worked for me.

For hunting go with 308 with 16in barrel just for the weight. We built a 308 with 16 thin profile barrel and a 18in 6.5 heavier profile and the weight difference is huge.

            Just a friendly FYI
Don't need a license to hunt pigs.

1 round of 6.5 creed 143 eldx at 200 yards right behind armpit anchored this bad boy. He didn’t get up and he didn’t need another one. 7.5 can knock em down too..

Even though I like 6.5 and I’ve seen it’s knock down power, if you’re running AR-10 would go with 308. AR-10 and 308 is like peanut butter and jelly.

                308

I have shot hogs with a 6.5 and seen them run. Shot a hog in the shoulder, she turned towards me and charged. She veered off as she got closer, put another creed in her. Blood was shooting out as she ran away. She ran another 75ish yards.

308 is all I use now

6.5CM or .308 in AR platform?

Ok, did some reading/research tonight, and I have stumbled across the 6.8spc and the 6.5 grendel. Would these be better suited to hunting hogs with a NV scope(Wraith)? Would want an 18” barrel and eventually a suppressor. This rifle would pull double duty as a deer gun every once in a while as well.

Can't go wrong with the SPC or grendel.
I have 2 buddies that guide NV hunts. They use the SPC. Alot of customers show up with 223 or 300blk, and are under gunned. They say they have alot of pigs that run off. They might die down the road, but they run far. The 6.8 rolls them up. They have probably shot over 400 hogs in 2 years with customers.

I have a 6.8 spc, Rockriver X-1. I've shot about 30 hogs with it. Maybe 8 deer. I shoot the 110 hornaday blacks.
They are DRT. Great little round.
