    I bet they do!
Yup I see the trend for sure.

I cast 560 grain paper patch bullets for my sharps. I love casting.

I agree completely with tacticalcowboy except for not valuing time. I can cast about 100 bullets in about an hour with a single cavity mould. It doesn’t take much time away from shooting and other hobbies.

My main question is are they for a gas gun (AR) or a bolt action? Raw lubed lead will most certainly clog a gas port in a AR with several passes of bullets leaving lead deposits sheared in the gas port. No bueno for reliability. You may be able to use a super hard ball lead to get is done but to me it wouldn’t be worth it. I would stick with jacketed in a gas gun.

I didn’t have much of a choice when it came to casting. I wanted to shoot a particular bullet and they didn’t commercially make them so I bought a Lyman furnace (I’ve since upgraded to the RCBS easy melt), ladle, mould mallet, a good BACO single bullet mould, a cheap hot plate and some other stuff. I love it but I’m gonna burn through a TON of lead in that gun. It made fiscal sense to get the stuff.

I also started casting .459 405 grain flat points for the 45-70 you traded me. Man I love that gun!!

I sure miss the ol 45-70 but my grendel I got from you is by far my favorite gun in the house! I’ve killed probably 30 hogs and 15 deer with it since I got.

I have 5/6 cavity molds and can make 900-1100 an hour and it’s still not worth it haha. I cast in the evenings when my wife is at work, so it usually takes place when I would be sitting on the couch drinking beer anyway. I shoot a lot of pistol bullets.

As far as the AR is concerned, I’ve shot a whole lot of gas checked bullets out of an AR 15 and a AR10, and I haven’t had any issues with plugged up gas tubes. It could happen in the future, but so far, no problems.

Man that makes me happy. I would have never used the Grendel even though it shot great. I am very glad you’re getting use out of it.
