Learn me....cast bullets

I cast 560 grain paper patch bullets for my sharps. I love casting.
I agree completely with tacticalcowboy except for not valuing time. I can cast about 100 bullets in about an hour with a single cavity mould. It doesn’t take much time away from shooting and other hobbies.
My main question is are they for a gas gun (AR) or a bolt action? Raw lubed lead will most certainly clog a gas port in a AR with several passes of bullets leaving lead deposits sheared in the gas port. No bueno for reliability. You may be able to use a super hard ball lead to get is done but to me it wouldn’t be worth it. I would stick with jacketed in a gas gun.Last edited by UltraMax; 01-11-2020, 10:06 AM.

I love it but I’m gonna burn through a TON of lead in that gun. It made fiscal sense to get the stuff.

I sure miss the ol 45-70 but my grendel I got from you is by far my favorite gun in the house! I’ve killed probably 30 hogs and 15 deer with it since I got.

As far as the AR is concerned, I’ve shot a whole lot of gas checked bullets out of an AR 15 and a AR10, and I haven’t had any issues with plugged up gas tubes. It could happen in the future, but so far, no problems.
